Let’s get acquainted w/ Holly

This week we had a chance to get to know Holly out of Portugal. Holly just released their ‘Manere Aurum EP’ last month which we feel you should check out.

Now that you’ve got that going (we recommend Prodigy – feat. Loud to start off with, but it’s all good and trill), go ahead and read up on the up and coming producer below:

phuture: What are you doing right this moment [besides this interview]?
Holly: Whats up! Im making some beats right now and im just taking a break to answer this questions.

phuture: After hearing your Manere Aurum EP we were impressed. The quality and composition is at production level standards. What did you do to get such a mastered sound, and what inspired you throughout this EP?
Holly: Haha don’t know what i did to get that sound, some of the tracks aren’t even mastered just mixed, but maybe just making the right EQ’s and taking in count little details. What inspired me to do that EP was life, my routines, Barcelona, some girls, family & friends, other formes of art and the gold that the humans have and that not always shine.

phuture: Where do you see yourself 1 year from now? 2 years? 5 years?
Holly: Following and achieving my dreams.

phuture: DAW of choice?
Holly: FRUTI LOOPS!!!

phuture: Why do you produce & what keeps you going?
Holly: I produce because it makes me feel good, makes me feel better, makes me feel like im doing something that worths living, makes my gold shine and makes me feel in love with life. What keeps me going is because it prolongs and extends all the feelings that i mentioned and much more!

phuture: If we gave you an all expenses paid week long vacation to anywhere in the world, where would you go? P.S The plane leaves TOMORROW!
Holly: Haha maybe LA?

phuture: Apples or oranges?
Holly: Applessss i eat a lot apples.

phuture: Do genres define or limit us?
Holly: Limit us! I hate when people answer me “what kind of music do you make?”… everything in music is related and connected so for me sometimes is very hard to define “a genre” and thats something that with time and enriching your knowledge starts being something very difficult to believe.

phuture: What did it take to get where you are now?
Holly: Work, ambitions and free mind.

phuture: Do you believe in God? Please feel free to elaborate.
Holly: I believe that exists some vibe in the universe that makes our soul following a way that leads to happiness, freedom and to all the good things that can flush and purge our soul, and God its what some call people to that vibe.

phuture: Trump, Bernie, or Hillary?
Holly: Happiness!

We asked for for several songs that have been the most influential and inspiring. Check these masterpieces out below to get a better feel for why Holly sounds the way he does.

The Prodigy – Firestarter

This song was released a year after i born, and i started listening to this when i was like 5 or 6 years old and it opened my mind to electronic music, fast breaks, strange basses, dark ambients and to get the most psycho i can. A lot of what i am today is due to this wonder.

7 Seconds

life anthem

Sam The Kid – Sangue

This one was one of the first (portuguese) hip hop tracks that i listened and its one of my favorite tracks ever. Introduced me to start digging more about rap and hip hop culture and to new ways of thinking about life.

Dj Ride – Theme For The Mail Diva

Another portuguese music that opened a lot my mind. This one was made by my best friend and my older brother a few years ago and talks about an ex girlfriend he had. Its a sad and monotony feeling that this music have but at the same time gives me a great strength to advance and to get good things done.

Nick Cave and the Dirty Three – See Above, Sky Below

Listen this song near sea and with your eyes closed and you will understand.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Om Nashi Me

I got into this track because of one of my favorite skate parts (Andrew Reynolds on Stay Gold – Emerica). This track is pure gold, just happiness in the most pure state. One of the tracks that more inspire me! Life is beauty.

Hope you enjoyed taking an in depth look on one of the internet and real world’s emerging producers. Don’t forget to check their face and pages below!
