Phuture:  SO GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK!! While the reader is waiting to digest some insatiable questions let’s not have them wait further – what did you have for lunch Mr. Martian?!

alex martian: Just a good ol’ sandwich with turkey bacon, mayo, and hot sauce.

Phuture: Tell us about the process, story, and inspiration behind ‘leaving for mars’? Any meaning behind the name? How was it working together?

alex martian: I wanted to tell a story about a kid going back to mars after receiving messages from space possibly indicating there still might be life there. The whole song is supposed to simulate the journey getting there. I also just wanted to write a song that people could play out live or dance to.

Phuture: Looking over 2019 so far, what have been some of your most notable ‘come ups’ or events you are glad to have happened?

alex martian: Getting a track on Aviencloud certainly helped me out for sure. Being able to release with collectives like Bonsai, Night Owl, and Bloom Child has definitely been a great experience in working to get my music out there as well. Finally, working on that remix for Ellzo was definitely fun! I always love the chance to get to remix other friends’ work.

Phuture: iHop or Denny’s? Which do you prefer and what would be your ideal order?

alex martian: iHop for sure. The Country Fried Steak and Eggs are literally sauce my dude.

Phuture: Anything in particular you do to get the creative juices flowing?

alex martian: Normally I draw. It could be an abstract piece of whatever I’m feeling or it could just be short comics. I’m making the habit of exercising more often to get myself out of creative slumps and it totally helps. It gives me that bit of energy I need to get some ideas going.

Phuture: What has been your favorite track so far of 2019?

alex martian: So far, I’ve really been listening to Chuck Suttons Candy Shop bootleg alot lately. The off-kilter swing of it is real groovy and bouncy. I’m also a big fan of all the micro pauses and foley parts in it definitely.

Phuture: You’ve got the whole world listening to you for 30 seconds – what do you say… or play for them 🙂 ?

alex martian: I’m planning to release an album around mid-June! It’s gonna be one of my biggest projects I’ve ever done as an artist. Here’s a micro sampler of all the tracks in it. (I’m only gonna leave it up for like 5 days though so check it out when you can!)

Phuture:  How much wood could a woodchuck chuck?

alex martian: A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would chuck if a woodchuck could chuck would.

Phuture: Name 5 artists that are going to take over 2019!

alex martian: I would definitely say Roto, Bandoum, sv1, Bxdhi, and Jonecks are definitely on the come up this year! I’ve been keeping up with them on their releases so far and I can’t wait to hear more from them.
