Phuture: Let this be your first warm welcome to Phuture Collective Mr. Great. For the readers out there – let this be your introduction to someone extremely underrated in the scene at the moment but oh my is that about to change. So, let us get started with this “Beyond Great” interview (#PhuturePuns 😉 )

What did you have for breakfast today Mr.Great?

Barely Great: For breakfast this morning I had a sausage, egg, and cheese.

Phuture: Tell the world bit about yourself!

Barely Great:  I’m 22 years old living in Los Angeles. I’ve been producing music since I was 15. For my studio setup, I have a little studio desk in my apartment with my desktop computer. I have a few midi controllers and a synthesizer but I do pretty much everything in the box.

I have a lot of respect for all the experimental bass artists pushing the boundaries of sound design right now. Bass music is getting crazier and crazier everyday.

Phuture: How has it been working with Otodayo? Any other goals this year as far as getting placed into labels go ?

Barely Great:  I have so much love for Otodayo. I’m very grateful they were down to release my track “LOW”. I also have another track coming out on Otodayo at the end of December. As far as my goals for getting placed onto other labels, I’d love to release on labels such as Jadu Dala and Quality Goods. For now I’m just going to make the best music that I can and wait to see what the future holds.

Phuture: We heard something about an upcoming EP with Block Society! Tell us more about that please.

Barely Great: Yes! I have a 5 track EP that will be released on Block Society in the nearby future. I’m super stoked on how this EP came out, I’ve put a ton of time and hard work into it and I cannot wait to share it.

Phuture: How would you make Soundcloud better if you had a say in the matter?

Barely Great: There are a lot of unknown artists that deserve to be heard. We need more platforms that give upcoming producers an opportunity to make a name for themselves. Places like Phuture Collective.

Phuture: Name 5 artists who are going to take over in 2019!

Barely Great: Effin, ZENSEII, We’re All Human, Stuca, and B-Dos.

Phuture: Anything else you want to mention before we part ways for now?

Barely Great: I have a ton of new music dropping over the next couple of months. Keep your eyes peeled!
