meet : bimyo.

What are you doing at this very moment [besides this interview]?

Watching Carnage’s 808 tutorial, ’cause I really want my bass to just be way way much more louder.

What part of the world are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

I’m from Dallas, Texas and the music scene here is great for like 3 months in the winter then all the good artists and DJ’s have passed through and it gets a little dull.

Favorite food and drink! Go!

Steak Fried Rice and Unsweet Tea!

What DAW do you use? Favorite plugins?

I use Ableton Live 9, but I started out on FL Studio. I made the switch about a year and a half ago because I wanted a cleaner sound and I can achieve that much easier with Ableton, but I’ll still use FL every now and again for collabs or messing around with hip hop beats. My top 3 plugins are probably Sylenth1, LFO Tool, and Massive.

Why do you produce and what keeps you going?

I actually started out as a DJ when I was 14 just doing little mixes and mash-ups for fun; when I was 15 or so I downloaded Fl Studio and started messing around with it a bit. I didn’t start to get serious about producing until about a little over a year ago when I saw Porter Robinson and just got a huge wave of inspiration and drive to make this my career. The thing that keeps me going is ultimately the fact that producing music is super fun lol – I wouldn’t do anything else.

Where would you go if you were given an all-expenses-paid trip to anywhere in the world?

I would love to see Japan so so so much

Thoughts on God?

I’ve never been that religious at all so I could never really believe that there was a god but you never know for sure.

Where do you see yourself 1 year from now? 2 years? 5 years?

I see myself doing the same stuff I do now. just making music and going to school, hopefully touring at some point lol. I really can’t see myself doing anything else other than music.

Who are some up and coming producers that we should check out?

Everyone definitely needs to be checking out my boy NEONIX. He’s a phenomenal underground dubstep producer that went to my high school until he graduated last year, he’s one of the biggest influences on why I produce because of how much I look up to him as a musician and person. He recently co-founded a label called PYRMD that y’all should check out. There’s gonna be some super filthy stuff coming from them.

What four songs have been the most influential to where you’ve gotten today?

Kiss Me Thru the Phone – Soulja Boy (x4)

What is in store for us to look forward to? An album perhaps?

Right now I’m just kinda focusing on getting better at producing and sound design but there very well could be a self released EP in the near future 😉
