phuture: What are you doing at this very moment [besides this interview]?
skerp: Listening to the chipmunks slowed down, it’s rad
phuture: What’s the music scene like in your town? Do you ever perform live?
skerp: Honestly not much going on in the underground scene here in Cleveland. I’ve DJ’d a couple parties but that’s about it.
phuture: Favorite food?
Sandwiches. love all sandwiches.
phuture: What are your go-to plugins and your DAW of choice?
skerp: Ozone. Ableton live.
phuture: Why do you produce and what keeps you going?
skerp: Sometimes I just wanna make music that I’d want to hear. Like a song or a vibe stuck in my head that doesn’t exist yet.
phuture: Do you believe in God? Please feel free to elaborate.
skerp: Not in the conventional sense, as “defined” by any religion. I do think there’s something greater out there involving higher dimensions. I think it’s the same place great art and ideas come from. Not a tangible place that we can perceive while living in three dimensions. whoaaaa bro
phuture: Thoughts of The Law of Attraction?
skerp: I think if you convince your subconscious that you’ve already attained something, you’ll start living your life in a way that lines you up with whatever that goal is. For example, you want to become a successful entrepreneur so you visualize your success so much that you start living your life the way a successful entrepreneur would, and after years and years you will line up with that reality.
phuture: Where do you see yourself 1 year from now? 2 years? 5 years?
skerp: Hopefully getting paid to play music in a professional group.
phuture: We heard you are taking some time off for a bit. Why is this and when will you be back?
skerp: I’m pursuing a music goal outside of producing currently, and that’s performing with orchestras. Trying to make that happen before I spend too much time on beats. Cause that shit sucks you in! I’ve definitely shut off reality for days at a time making beats, and although that’s awesome sometimes I just can’t afford it right now.
phuture: What four songs have been the most influential to where you’ve gotten today?
skerp: The birth and death of a day – Explosions in the Sky | Far from the tree – Bob Moses | Shroomeries – Mr. Carmack | Symphony No. 9 – Beethoven
phuture: What is helping the music scene right now? What is hurting it?
skerp: The rate at which music and can be shared and artists can be exposed is great. This also accelerates the growth of genres and boundaries. What this also results in is an extreme over-saturation of music being released. And it all kind of sounds the same. Something’s gotta give, and I believe it will.
