With great excitement we present you with our first three way collaboration! We feature Khaki , cig.margot 승민, & dxwntxwn who all happen to hail from Nashville, Tennessee. Pictured above on the left you can see dxwntxwn. On the right you can see khaki. Where is cig.margot? Not pictured but feel free to check his soundcloud to have even less of an idea as to what he looks like 🙂 #mystery. Let’s get to the butter… err the honey! They all designed a piece for LEMONGRASS that can only be described as ‘honey’, which you can hear below.

Phuture: it’s a pleasure to get all three of you on board phuture at once! Please introduce yourselves to the world!
cig.margot 승민: John here, thanks for having us.
Khaki: Hey! It’s Ethan. Excited to be a part of this release.
dxwntxwn: What’s up, my name is Hayden! Thanks for having us here!!

Phuture: Each of you have your own niche, and a sound which doesn’t have a label put to it, per se, like ‘future bass’ or ‘trap’ or ‘soul’. How would you categorize the music you produce? Feel free to categorize in emotion, metaphor, genre, etc.
cig.margot 승민 : no categorization for me honestly. I’m trying to branch out and try new sounds and directions. I guess most of the stuff I’ve put out so far would be considered trap though.
Khaki: I wouldn’t say that i necessarily have a distinct sound right now, as i just make a lot of different tunes. I definitely do try and put my own flair on everything i release, though. As my productions progress i’m really trying to create my own sound.
dxwntxwn I would categorize my music as feel good. No matter what genre I make I want the listeners to feel good.

Phuture: Mind giving us a run through a typical day from each of your perspectives/lives?
cig.margot 승민 : I work full-time. every day when I come home from work I hang a 30 minute nap then get on ableton. that’s pretty much routine at this point.
Khaki: I go to school and work so basically any free time I get I’ll just open up ableton and get down to business. Not having a ton of free time has really helped me streamline my workflow.
dxwntxwn I am a bartender. every day I talk to new people and see different views on life and that inspires me to make great music whenever I get home.

Phuture: why do you create music and what keeps you doing so?
cig.margot 승민 : my answer here is pretty simple. because it’s fun. If it were ever to become not fun for me I don’t see anything else that would keep me going.
Khaki: I really just love creating. What’s great is that I am so inspired by all of my friends and peers to really make something I’m proud of. There is so much fun to be had in building relationships and sharing your love of the music with other like-minded people.
dxwntxwn It’s honestly just a release for me. Any kind of emotion I feel I put into music, and i just happen to be good at it.

Phuture: what else can we expect from you all this year individually? any EPs or albums that we should be aware of 🙂 ?
cig.margot 승민 : just working on exploring different directions. everything I have in the works solo-wise is completely different from anything I’ve put out. definitely trying to work with more vocalists. On the other side of things – I’ve shifted my focus to selling beats. If I can pay rent with that and find another side-hustle to sustain myself, I will be one happy camper.
Khaki: Definitely trying to make my releases a bit more cohesive on my main page. Also trying to make more “tracks” instead of just “beats” if that makes any sense.
dxwntxwnNo plans as of now to be honest. Just taking everything day by day. I, however, have been in contact with gold prospector and might have a release there sometime this year.

Phuture: are there plans for another collaboration between you three?
cig.margot 승민 : for sure. Ethan and I have been talking about working on stuff for a minute now. one of these days we’ll finally get something going.
Khaki: I basically talk to these guys every day so I can almost guarantee some more music from us!
dxwntxwn We all have kind of taken different directions recently but I would be down to finally link up again.

cig.margot 승민 : anderson .paak, monte booker, kevin parker

cig.margot 승민 : gotta plug my homies at trust co right now. S/O lzr, notpil, caives, not, kuro, wrry, yung anh, baron rose, cam jordyn, & inhale. everyone’s got some fly music
Khaki: almost everyone that the others have shouted out are my buds so shout out to you guys again. Some other artists that i think are slept on are awkward island, quickly quickly, sterfry, donovan lafall, jaguar, gera, remzi, and many others i know i am forgetting.
dxwntxwn all my homies. chaca, blkwhte, katz, GIR, Gaws The Great, kingokid, THEOS, bad one, brainrack, guppi, abelation. If i forgot anyone im sorry. Lol.
