We’re honored to welcome CLIN with his debut phuture release on issue six, ‘Io Plasma Torus’. We are excited for this young artist to grow within his vision and hope that you enjoy his track just as much as we do. You can listen to the track below, as well as read up on the interview he gave our very own Bandapears
phuture: Greetings CLIN! Want to go ahead and introduce yourself to those that aren’t woke yet? Where you’re from and all that jazz that makes it sound like the first day of school.
CLIN: Hello world, my name is Colin Miller, or CLIN for short. Im a 19 year old bedroom producer, I live in Central New Jersey, and I likey makey noisy in your ears.
phuture: Starting off on a burning question of mine, what the hell is that lead?
CLIN: It’s not what’s the lead, it’s what’s on the lead (; Ableton’s frequency shifter, and erosion basically shaped that sound, but it was actually a R2D2 sound effect to begin with.
phuture: What’s something that you feel needs to be addressed and/or changed about the music industry?
CLIN: Ghost writers/producers are probably my number one thing I’d change about the music industry. If you make music that you’re proud of, upload it yourself, stand up and say “Hey I made this.” It’s kinda like letting someone cheat off of your science test in school.
phuture: Looking back, what are some things about your music that you feel has remained consistent and what do you feel has changed other than the quality of the music?
CLIN: I feel like my music changed completely looking back to what I created under “Sub Works.” I feel reborn as a producer under CLIN. The only thing I’d say that remained the same is my DAW
phuture: Can you tell us about the strangest experience you’ve ever had that involved music in some way?
CLIN: I think the strangest experience I’ve had with music is when I took my brother, who was 11 at the time, to a festival in Philly. The looks I got walking around with him were priceless. He was lit off them thangs (joking)
phuture: What items are on your musical bucket list? e.g. some say they must play at Sonar festival or some say they need to work with Carmack on a collab. What needs to happen for you?
CLIN: One of my biggest dreams is playing a show, any show where a lot of people know who you are and are real fans of your music. Seeing all those faces would really make me feel accomplished and make me feel like I’m really a part of something big
