We’ve been following these cats for awhile. From their hit exclusives to their amazing jobs creating Dont Die At Work – we’re excited to welcome HMU to phuture collective! They’ve created something real special for us which you can hear below, as part of issue eight | HEARTBREAK. phuture: Hey there HMU! Welcome aboard phuture <3. Tell the world a bit about yourselves for those that don’t already know. (Names, locations, years producing, etc.)

HMU: We are Joe and Ethan currently living in Los Angeles. We are Chicago natives and have been hustling together for years.

phuture: How did you two meet and when did you decide to form HMU?

HMU: For way too long we were in the search for the perfect DJ name. Finally we agreed on HMU and never looked back. We just felt that it would fit our vibe regardless of the genre we were making. During this time we formed Dont Die At Work as well and it’s great that we get to be on 2 sides of the scene we love so much.

phuture: So you are the co-founders of Don’t Die At Work? We’ve been fans from the get go with your label and consider your family <3. Please tell us more! Who else runs it, how long have you been doing it, etc.

HMU: Don’t Die At Work is a label created by 3 high school best friends, us and our boy Ned. We’ve always been on the same page as far as finding artists that push the boundary and wanted to give a platform to the weird shit. So far we’ve been privileged to work with a lot of great creators.

phuture: What is the last song on your soundcloud feed that truly captivated your attention?

HMU (Joe): Bruckner – “Take You To The Bronx”. Just stumbled on this track recently and the sample is insane.

HMU (Ethan): Jetson – “Nojus”

phuture: What plans do you both have musically for 2017? Any album plans :D?

HMU: We really want to keep branching out to new audiences and try to spread our addiction to experimentation. We just want up the amount of releases this year.

phuture: What has been the single most inspiring moment so far on your musical journey?

HMU: The relative success of Genesis, showing that a weird idea we took to the finish can have a great effect on people inspires us to keep making what we love.

phuture: Have you ever used any psychedelic or mind altering substances, either to influence your sound, or otherwise? What are your thoughts on psychedelics?

HMU: The answer is yes.
