If you’ve been following phuture collective the last year, then you know firsthand that Bandapears & The Flourish are no strangers! The are part of phuture’s core, so you can expect many more releases to come in the future on various platforms.
Our interview with the these artists was curated by Michael of the phuture collective team.
Interview with Bandapears & The Flourish:
phuture: Hey Mr. Flourish & Sir. Bandapears! We’re honored to have you here with us. Would you each mind telling us a bit more about yourselves, before we get down to the juicy questions?
The Flourish: I am just a facebook algorithm who went rogue and now they cant get it to stop posting shitty memes.
Bandapears: thanks for having me. I’m Bandapears: college drop out/ableton fiddler. I make weird shit and read.

phuture: Your track ‘Carried Away’ is unlike anything either of you have made individually. How do each of your styles complement one other?
The Flourish: the same way weed compliments food.
Bandapears: thank you. I’m glad to know we’re broadening our horizons. To be frank, i don’t even what my style is or how I personally compliment his stuff. I just kind of shit all over the original stems and then we carved out a pretty little shit monster. Dylan is really focused and from what I’ve heard, really appreciates what goes into a composition and how dynamics influence mood and such. So I’d we compliment each other in the sense that we care more about how this song will make you feel as opposed to making the usual trap/future bass kind of formulaic build-drop-build etc.

phuture: How many times have you wanted to ‘quit’ in the last month? What kept you here?
The Flourish: Lemme see.. 1,2,3, 500? What kept me here? Not being a little bitch and letting shit distract me from my vision.
Bandapears: I lost count. What keeps me here is the couple of sincerely good friends I’ve made in the last year. There’s always love.

phuture: Name one thing you would change about each other if given the opportunity & why.
The Flourish: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. So we can make music and take dabs and do hood rat shit
Bandapears: I’d make Dylan move to Washington. That way I can fight him.
__________________________________________________________________________
phuture: Do you see any more collaborative efforts going between you two, in the coming months?
The Flourish: There may or may not already be on in the making…
Bandapears: nope. Just kidding. I’m sure there’ll be something from us again. Just waiting on Dylan’s ass to get a good computer again.
__________________________________________________________________________
phuture: Why are you still releasing on phuture collective?
The Flourish: Because I believe in the Phuture
Bandapears: cause you’re the only people that like what I make haha. And i like your no-bullshit platform. I truly believe in Phuture and their ideas as both an industry model (to be) and as a community that helps others build.

phuture: Where you do want to be, on this date, in 2020? Why? Remember, the “how” doesn’t matter.
The Flourish: On Tour. I dont care where. I wanna wake up in a different city every day, wreck it, and then leave to do it somewhere else.
Bandapears: fucking dead I hope. Or on tour. That and getting to a point where I can hang out with flume and punch him in the fucking face. ________________________________________________________________
phuture: What does “art larger than life” mean to each of you?
The Flourish: Is this a Backstreet Boys reference?
Bandapears: art that shows without hesitance what it means to be a fucking human being. A poem can be larger than life and only have a few stanzas. But if it’s truly art, you’ll come out the other side a changed person.

phuture: Give us one reason to stay here
The Flourish: Here hit this. *passes blunt* 😉
Bandapears: there are no reasons. We make them up and convince ourselves that we’re doing the right thing. If I had to give you one, I’d say, because you’re helping people express ans show the world something beautiful.
phuture: give the reader 3 artists that deserve more recognition to check out.
The Flourish: Idee Noir, RVKIT, Trillwax
Bandapears: BINX. Get that guy a fucking deal.
Much love to Kai La Mono.
And shouts to Headspace Studios which is a design firm run by my friend Galen.
