Let’s ride that wave ‘together’ with Himmel.

Our interview with the Himmel was curated by Soba of the phuture collective team.

Interview with Himmel:

phuture: Hello there Mr. Himmel! We’re more than happy to have you here with us. Would you mind telling us a little bit about you?

Himmel  : I’m a producer from the DC area, been producing around 3 or 4 years now on Fl studio.

phutureYour track on the issue, Together, has been stuck in our head for days now! Could you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind that track? What made you want to release this track with us?

Himmel : I appreciate that, the inspiration comes from whatever I’m feeling in the moment, I honestly don’t remember what inspired me with that track but it felt really good in the moment and I ended up creating and finishing the track pretty quickly. This track definitely characterizes my music pretty well, I made this song like 4 months ago and since then I’ve really developed this sort of sound. And of course a Phuture Collective release haha, ya’ll are great, I knew I had to.

phuture: Outside of producing original tracks, do you DJ at all? IF not, are you interested in having live performances? I know it’s popular among electronic musicians!

Himmel : I do DJ a bit but haven’t done any live performances yet. I’m definitely looking forward to that, looking at 1 or 2 shows in the area.

phuture: What are your goals when it comes to music? Where do you wish for it to take you? Why?

Himmel  : I just want to keep getting better every day and I want to continue having fun. I want music to be my full time job, its the basically something that I’ve done most of my life and i really enjoy it.
__________________________________________________________________________

phuture: Who are some of your inspirations behind your sound/style? I feel a little bit of a Sam Gellaitry style from some of your tracks, as well as some Evil Needle in your pads/chords!

Himmel: : Definitely could see that man, I am really influenced by so many people I’m not even sure at this point.

__________________________________________________________________________

phuture: I really dig your basses! Do you make them yourself? If so, what synthesizer do you generally use to create them?

Himmel : It really depends on the track, I use 3xosc for a lot of my basses, sometimes I’ll use sylenth1 or whatever depending on the style of the track. You can get the job done so many ways, I try to change it up.
__________________________________________________________________________

phuture: Do you have a favorite overall plugin? I myself love a lot of Ableton’s stock plugins but could never decide on one!

Himmel : I love Fl stock plugins a lot, sytrus is a really powerful plugin that I use a lot. My favorite 3rd party is probably synplant.

phuture: Whenever you’re feeling a lack of motivation to work on a track, do you have a technique that gets you out of the hole? If so, what is it? I may need to practice this myself!

Himmel:  I usually take a break from music or the internet, go out, do something. Also listening to music in a setting where I usually don’t will really give me inspiration.

__________________________________________________________________________

phuture: Who are some of your favorite musicians? Why? Do you ever try to create sounds similar to the ones that they use?

Himmel :West1ne, Monte Booker, J.robb, Yugi Boi, Herzylode, Whereisalex. These guys are next level and so fucking creative it blows my mind. I’m always trying to make new weird sounds, even if I’m trying to emulate producers I look up to and it doesn’t work out how i expected, it still comes out in my own way which can work.

__________________________________________________________________________

phutureIs there a point in which you became more serious about making music? Why did you decide to keep perfecting your art?

Himmel : Probably a year or two ago. I knew I had to continue to get better and work towards the sound I wanted, which I’m still working towards every day.
