Let’s get it started… What did you have for lunch??!
Zidakara:
I had a turkey pesto sandwich YUMMM it’s from starbucks and it’s bomb.

Phuture: If music didn’t exist – what would you be doing with your life right now?
Zidakara:
Shoot well I already do a lot outside of music so I would just be doing those things even more – fashion and street dance 🙂

Phuture: What’s your idea of a ‘perfect weekend’?
Zidakara:
My guitar, my home studio and some yummy food 😀

Phuture: Let’s talk about ‘Take my Hand’! What was the idea behind this track? Please describe the emotions that went into this 🙂
Zidakara:
Well me and B-Dos wanted to collab.. And actually it’s funny because the original ID of this track was made back in 2018. I didn’t finish the song because I had a bunch of other music in the release pipeline that I had to finish first (Khanda EP and Experimental EP). I finally got around to finishing the collab this year in 2023!
So, the idea behind this track was to fuse my EDM and singing background together. And that’s exactly what happened. The emotions felt were just what I was feeling at the time.. I was thinking about freeing yourself from all worries and moving forward in your life.

Phuture: Tell us a secret that friends and family would be surprised to hear 👀
Zidakara:
Well my family already knows this, but friends outside of my childhood friends don’t know that I was the guitarist in a band called “Armed to Fight” in high school. It was a post hardcore band with a keyboardist in it. Those were the days!! We had a myspace music page and everything. I am still friends with the band’s two lead singers and the bassist today (yes, we had two lead singers!)

Phuture: If you had to live the rest of your life with only THREE songs, which songs would they be and why?
Zidakara:
1 – Mokita, Owen – sleepwalking
This song is amazing and the tone and melody of it speaks to my soul.
2 – Said the Sky, Caly Bevier – Gold
Song is also tonally and melodically beautiful, and another acoustic song which I love. I can’t get enough of my acoustic music 😂 both songs one and two are also lovely to sing along with.
3 – JGRXXN – Jook N Bock
Need me some Memphis Jookin music that I can dance to for the rest of my life, and this is the one I can listen to and practice to on repeat 😤

Phuture: What type of role does fashion play in your day-to-day life? What about as a producer and vocalist?
Zidakara: As far as my day to day life… It’s everything. My outfit is a representation of who I am, so when people see me they know what I’m about without even talking to me. And what’s better than wearing your own creations?? I think that’s the best feeling I ever have, when I am wearing clothes that I made myself… nothing feels better
As a producer and vocalist well, there’s also nothing better than making music in your favorite clothes. Fashion makes you feel nice while making nice music 👌

Phuture: What does the rest of the year look like for ya? Do you have any albums/shows/streams/travel plans being put together?
Zidakara:
I have singles that are coming out monthly starting in late august (with the exception of this single of course!) I am really excited to share this music with everyone. These songs were originally created in 2018 when “Take My Hand” was first created. They are also collaborations – one with Oyeme & Engvall, one with Lizdek, and one with my friend Bryn!
In the winter I plan on playing open mic nights locally in Southern California! Gonna be using my guitar, a looper pedal and my voice.

Zidakara: If you’re reading this… never stop creating. Seriously.. Your future self will thank you. Take breaks, go away and come back to it… but just never stop. It keeps you mentally healthy, safe and away from needless troubles in life. We need more underground artists right now, especially in alternative genres. We need more inspiration. So be that inspiration <3
