: onumiiiiiiiii!!!! Long time coming, cannot WAIT to tell the world more about you and give them a glimpse into our past history together <3 šŸ˜€

Last time we saw each other IRL was in Portland either getting way too drunk at the Noer the Boy / leet / aztek show or maybe it was when we played pinball with Zidakaraā€¦ Nonetheless definitely miss you IRL but so glad that online things are moving for you!!

Letā€™s start things off with what you had for dinner :).

onumi: Arbyā€™s, say what u want but their gryoā€™s slap

Phuture: When you think of our theme ā€˜Wonderā€™ what does that theme mean to you?

onumi: Curiosity for the future and a desire to find something different

Phuture: How has Web3 & the Metaverse played a role in your career thus far? Where do you see the Metaverse heading in the next 5 years?

onumi: Itā€™s been interesting, some people are doing cool things with it but itā€™s definitely hard to dig through the misinfo and cash grab projects. It has allowed me make money from less marketable projects though through people who want to see me go after my more raw ideas more

Phuture: Letā€™s talk about ā€˜Ethereal Sacrificeā€™! What was the idea behind this track? Please describe the emotions that went into this šŸ™‚

onumi: This is just one of those songs that came from doing w/e happened, it slowly turned into me imagining a bass music seance, might sound weird but itā€™s very SCP inspired lol

Phuture: What are 3 things that most people might not know about you?

onumi: 1: The name onumi actually came from League of Legends, my handle online was Oni Megumi and i wanted to combine them into a clan but the character limit is 5 letters, so i combined ONi + megUMi + the i on the end and made onumi (which i used as a name after making Regret Part 1).

2: House music is the genre iā€™m actually passionate about, as much as i enjoy the energy of dnb or dubstep – house music was all i lived for a decade

3: Iā€™m secretly 9 years oldĀ

Phuture: How would you describe music to someone who is deaf?

onumi: How you explain emotions that donā€™t have words in them and a form of subtle mind control.

Phuture: Whatā€™s your favorite song so far in 2022?

onumi: either Dyatic – Lumbre or MISS U

Phuture: Ask us a question!

onumi: How much has your idea of what ā€œliving off of musicā€ means changed from when you first started vs now.Ā

Phuture: Initially I thought I would try to make a living by putting music out and living off streams and doing shows. Flash forward 7 years and there’s no way in hell that’s pheasible for a normal person since most shows lose money & to make a normal income off streams I’d need to be hitting 5mill+ streams every single month on Spotify lol.

Luckily after putting in 20,000+ hours of work I was able to try multiple ventures (Audius, SoundStage.fm, Coli.io, Artist Influence, etc.) which ended up panning out successfully for me to still live a life of music doing what I love (bringing artists up and sharing sounds that fans need to hear to be given hope for life) but just in a different light than originally planned.

I still think anyone can do it but it takes being creative and staying driven more than any other factor… and a bit of luck ;).

Phuture: What does the next year look like for ya? Any album / shows / streams / travel plans being put together?

onumi: May or may not be a tour esque thing happening soon, aside from that thereā€™s a big launch Iā€™m going to be a part of but I canā€™t give much more info than that

Phuture: Name 5 artists who are going to rapidly emerge in 2022!

onumi: uhh, DossyX but 5 times over, i kind of separate myself from producer circles anywhere because itā€™s all dram and people pretending to be important, if i had to give some other mentions then iā€™d say Zaphyre, Akira Complex, jedwill, slang dogs, and empty stomach.Ā
