I’ve always been partial to Dutch culture, but I’m inclined to defend my objectivity on this one – Slackview knows how to produce tracks that sound like sex had an aneurysm. Permanent Damage has to be one of the highlights of issue three, giving you just the kind of backdrop you need for a feel-good time. Phuture: Firstly, besides this interview, what are you doing at this very moment?
Slackview: Kicking back at a friends house, nothing special.
Phuture: What song has been following you around lately?
Slackview: In a Sentimental Mood. One of the finest melodies ever written.
Phuture: You are told you have 7 days to live. There is a 50/50 chance that you could survive but it would require you to spend the next 7 days in a dark room. Do you take your chances and spend what could be your last week in a dark room or do you spend the week living your life to the fullest?
Slackview: If only I can enter the dark room, I would live my last days outside the room. If I can take people with me I would take the shot.
Phuture: Tell me a secret.
Slackview: Your mom loves me.
Phuture: What projects do you have coming up in the near future?
Slackview: Nothing special, just putting out some music.
Phuture: You are given the object of your desire (money, fame, glory, happiness). The catch is that once you accept it, you can never get rid of it and you will never again desire anything else. So basically, you will be content for the rest of your life, having obtained the one (and now only) thing you wanted. Do you accept the offer and live in contentment with your greatest desire or do you reject it and continue to strive in uncertainty but with other possibility?
Slackview: If you choose happiness it’s no problem, because you’re happy full time. But I would not choose anything else.
Phuture: What’s the best thing since sliced bread?
Slackview: I have thought for at least 10 minutes and I wouldn’t know what the absolute best thing is.
