LITTLE SNAKE is a fresh face to Phuture, but probably not to your ears if you’ve been on Soundcloud lately. This producer is one you won’t want to miss – and he’s joining our issue nine | ANXIETY with a massive collaboration beside Holly titled ‘Negative Degrees’. This track is seriously ice cold. Now, let’s get straight to business. Scroll below, press play & read on to get to know LITTLE SNAKE.
Interview curated by Michael of the Phuture Collective team.
Phuture Collective: Welcome aboard Phuture Collective, LITTLE SNAKE! We’re happy to have you here & can’t wait to get to know you more. Tell the world a bit about yourself and what you had for breakfast.
LITTLE SNAKE: I’m a hot, young producer looking for sexy time. Wanna cam me? Type in https://soundcloud.com/littlesnake to find out more.
I had a cigarette for breakfast.

Phuture Collective: Your ‘MENTAL WEALTH’ EP that dropped on Renraku a couple months ago is something else. No single artist sounds like the journey you painted here… Mind taking a moment to go over what went into this EP, and the artists who may have inspired it?
LITTLE SNAKE: Years of heavy LSD usage and some amazing music festivals inspired mental wealth. So many artists crafted the sound that I make today. Snails, DMVU, Chee, Eprom, G Jones, Bleep Bloop, Amon Tobin and Alon Mor are just a few.

Phuture Collective: Tell us a bit about Renraku. Why did you choose this innovative & emerging label for your first release/EP?
LITTLE SNAKE: It was love at first sight. I was really into a lot of artists on coming out of renraku like Think Twice, Chee, DFNKT and some others. I started sending music to Think Twice and he sent it to the renraku folk and everything took off from there.

Phuture Collective: Your collaboration with Holly, titled ‘Negative Degrees’ is just as the title suggests – stone cold. How do your styles complement one another?
LITTLE SNAKE: Our styles are pretty similar in a lot of ways, especially with the sound I’ve been leaning towards more recently. We’re both very sporadic and glitchy.
______________________________
Phuture Collective: How long have you been producing & how many hours a week to you spend doing it?
LITTLE SNAKE: I’ve been producing for about 2 and a half years on and off and more seriously the past year. For the past couple months I’ve been producing almost everyday for 1-3 hours but my laptop charger just stopped working AND I’m having a serious creative dry spell so nothing this week.
______________________________
Phuture Collective: Writer blocks are all too common for most of us. Any tips as to how to get the creative juices flowing when they are running dry?
LITTLE SNAKE: Lol if you figure this question out please let me know.
______________________________
Phuture Collective: Your textures are unlike anyones. They have so much depth and are completely unique to you. Do you use plugins or field recordings mostly to obtain them? If neither, then give us a couple clues :).
LITTLE SNAKE: It’s a mix of weird shit in serum and random foley + samples stretched out in Ableton’s texture mode with the grain size being constantly automated.
______________________________
Phuture Collective: We’re just about over with our interview here, only a couple more questions to go. Mind sharing with us your plans for the rest of the year? Any more releases lined up that we’ll get the pleasure of hearing?
LITTLE SNAKE: I’ve got a single coming out on saturate records coming later in June and a collab with Dictate coming out on renraku later this year. Also a mega secret show coming up in the states that I can’t talk about yet because it’s SUPER TOP SECRET.
